DyeStat Illinois 2A Girls Rankings - September 17, 2013Published by
Dropped out – Riverside-Brookfield (21), DeKalb (22), LaGrange Park Nazareth Academy (24), Morton (25).
Notes – The individual finish of the 2A race overshadowed a commanding performance by defending state champ #1 Yorkville. Even without top runner Summer Pierson, who is coming back from an injury and finished 101st on Saturday, the Foxes still had four runners in the first fifteen and won the team title at Peoria by over one hundred points. Ignore the 1-4 split on Skyler Bollinger of 74 seconds. The 2-4 split of fourteen seconds and when Pierson gets healthy makes this team extremely tough.
#2 Glenbard South moved up a spot after their second place finish at Peoria. The 1-4 split on Diane Lipa was 45 seconds. The gap between 4 to 5 is 42 seconds. #3 Normal University is still without normal #1 runner Sydney Billingsley but their depth gets them third at Peoria behind the thirteenth place finish by Ashley Lafayette. Their 1-5 split is 102 seconds. Their 1-4 split is 54 seconds. #4 Kaneland did not run their full top 7 at Wauconda. Expect them to be at full force at their own invitational this Saturday. #5 Peoria Notre Dame did not run last weekend but will be running at Detweiller this Saturday.
#6 Montini climbed up four spots after their impressive fourth place finish at Peoria. They were led by the top ten finishes of Brittany Fisher (6th) and Maggie Hallerud (8th). #7 Crystal Lake Central finished third at Wauconda but former state champ Sami Staples reinjured her foot during the race finishing 63rd. The Tigers still have a strong first two with Maddie Dadley and Mary Fleming. #8 Vernon Hills did not run in a major invitational last weekend.
#9 Springfield looked strong in winning the Lee Halberg Invitational last Saturday behind the 5-6-7 finish of Natalie Motor, Mads Nelson, and Aly Goff. Their five runner split was 89 seconds. #10 Lemont looks like the real deal after their fifth place finish in Detweiller. Clare Gagen finished 28th to be the first finisher for Lemont. Their five runner split was 61 seconds.
#11 Chatham Glenwood finished only five points behind Springfield Saturday at Lincoln Park. Their 1-5 split, led by the ninth place finish of freshman Demi Dixon, was 61 seconds. Their 2-5 split was only 34 seconds. #13 Mattoon finished behind Glenwood at Springfield behind the 1-2 finish of Megan Schaffer and Whitney Maninfior. #12 Woodstock, behind the individual win by Maura Beattie at Peoria, moves up four spots. #14 Highland remains at their spot but looked good in finishing seventh at Peoria behind Allison Zobrist’s fifth place finish. #15 Belvidere North was next behind Highland. The strong running from sisters Jenna and Carley Lutzow is the reason why they continue to climb in the rankings.
#16 Lake Forest dropped four spots after their fourth place finish at Wauconda. #17 Dixon enters the rankings bind their ninth place finish at Peoria and the 24th place finish of Katie Pitman. #18 Marengo drops out of the top 10 after their 10th place finish at Detweiller. They were led by the seventh place finish of Kitty Allen. Their 1-5 split was over three minutes. Their 1-4 split was 82 seconds.
Three other schools entered the top 25. #22 Mahomet-Seymour placed fourth at Springfield. #23 Washington & #24 Providence both enter after their thirteenth and fourteenth place finishes at Peoria.
Other teams that are close include Rockford Boylan, Morton, Sycamore, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin, and Nazareth Academy. More news
